Biomaterials

The Tissue Engineering + Biofabrication (TEB) Lab designs advanced hydrogels to promote regeneration of tissue and organs including cartilage, muscle, nerves, and skin. Hydrogels provide a basic 3D-hydrated environment to support resident cells, but often the materials need to be decorated with additional motifs to enable or enhance biocompatibility and degradability. Furthermore, biophysical properties (charge, stiffness, elasticity/viscoelasticity) require tailoring for tissue and cell-specific responses. This is what we do.
